Ron, Gurjeet and Craig at Tuolumne Meadows where we picked up our reserved permits, and started our hike.
While the official starting point of the John Muir Trail is in Yosemite Valley, we started at Tuolumne Meadows thus avoiding the climb out of the Valley.
The John Muir Trail is very well marked.

Hikers who start here can pick up their permits at the Ranger station. For those starting in Yosemite Valley, this is the first spot where resupply is possible.
